Beyond Evangelism: Establishing a lifelong faith in Jesus

Together in Spirit

Jennifer Aitken (FFICM Children’s Program Writer and Editor)

Every week our writing team logs onto Zoom from different corners of the world. Our screens are filled with faces from different countries, cultures, and time zones. The team includes pastors, educators, musicians, writers, theologians, and children’s ministry leaders. We bring different experiences and perspectives, yet every week we find ourselves united around the same person.

Jesus.

Though we are separated by oceans and time zones, we gather around the same Savior. Each of us has come to know Him personally and has been changed by His love. We believe that there is simply no one more worthy of knowing, trusting, and following. That conviction compels every lesson we write because we long for children to encounter the living God, not simply complete another lesson.

Every week we have gathered to wrestle with the same questions:

How can we help children know what God is really like?

How can we help them delight in Him?

How can we help them learn to walk with Him every day?

Those questions have shaped every page of these materials and we’ve now reached an exciting milestone. Our first series of lessons, centered on the question Who is God? is complete. We have prayed over each lesson, debated every illustration, and carefully chosen every activity with one hope: that children would come to treasure God for who He is and discover the joy of walking with Him every day.

In the coming weeks, these materials will be field tested in India, Sri Lanka, and Africa. It is both exciting and humbling to watch these initial lessons move from our computers into the hands of children across the globe.

As these lessons take their first steps into the world, would you join us in praying?

  • For the trainers as they introduce these lessons for the very first time.
  • For the children, that they would know God more deeply, delight in His presence, and respond by joyfully following Him.
  • For families and churches who will continue the work of discipling children long after the lessons are over.
  • For our writing team as we listen, learn, and continue to refine these lessons to help children know God, delight in Him, and follow Him.

Thank you for praying with us and for faithfully supporting this work. We are grateful to have friends like you who share our love for Jesus and our longing for children to know Him.

May God be glorified, and may children around the world come to know Him, delight in Him, and faithfully walk with Him all the days of their lives.
